We’ve Uncovered Plans by Senator Dino Melaye to Cause Bloodshed in the State – Kogi Govt.

The Kogi State Government has raised concerns over “covert plans by Senator Dino Melaye to unleash mayhem and cause bloodshed in Kogi State.”

Briefing newsmen in Lokoja on Monday, the spokesman for the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo said the Office of the State Security Adviser has uncovered the “orchestrated plan to destabilize Kogi State. Senator Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District is set to disturb the peace of the the State through steaming violence in the name of political campaigns.

“According to the highly credible report, the Senator is planning to visit Kupa area in Lokoja Local Government Area to launch campaign of calumny against the Government of Kogi State. The choice of Kupa was informed by the solid support of the APC in the area.

“It is expected that the people will resist the use of “Dino Language” on the Government which will lead to attack on the defenseless people by the armed thugs which Dino is planning to convey with two white Hilux to the place.

“The intelligence also revealed that the thugs to be imported from a neighboring state where a political godfather just lost a House of Reps election, are to wear black T-Shirts with the inscription, ‘DSS’ to create an impression that they are security operatives. The thugs are to be conveyed in a white Hilux vehicle.  A notorious thug from Lokoja has also been co-opted into the satanic plan”.

Fanwo said Dino, like every other candidate has the right to campaign for votes, but urged the Senator to honor the “process for peaceful campaigns”, by dealing with constituted authorities charged with the responsibility of ensuring peaceful campaigns.

“A lawmaker cannot continue to be a law-breaker. We are not stopping anyone from peaceful campaigns but Government will not tolerate plans that will threaten the lives of the citizens in the name of politics. Kogi State Government values life than politics.

“We can understand why the Senator will not want to deal with Government security agencies as he has been declared wanted by the Police for various accusations ranging from shooting at Police Officers on Patrol to attempting to facilitate the escape of accused persons in police custody and sundry other issues. The Senator should deal with these accusations and stop arming thugs to kill innocent Kogites”.

The Kogi State Government charged the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd) and all Security agencies to ensure no political actor promotes violence; urging all political parties and candidates to work closely with security agencies to ensure peace throughout the period of elections.
