Umar Ahmed Imam: The Leader, The Legend And The Politics in Him

The legendary English writer, poet and dramatist of all time, Williams Shakespeare, in his classical comedy, ‘Twelfth Night’, said through Malvolio, “Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.”

True to the words of the writer of all times, Hon Umar Ahmed Imam  is a man who has a date with history. His astronomical rise to greatness is an eloquent testimony of God’s amazing grace and purpose. If it were man’s effort, there would have been little or no success at all, but one is convinced beyond any shadows of doubt that Imam is the chosen one called by God to remind the people of Lokoja that the constituency is going to be better if opportunity meet people like him to turn things around good.

Hon. Imam is a crowd-puller who knows his onions. Many passionately love him because of his track-record, and few hate him because of his clout, honesty and integrity.

Hon. Imam’s practical wealth of experience on legislative matters which saw him serving on so many standing committees in the state assembly is a veritable factor. His way of handling delicate assignments had endeared him to his colleagues and Kogites alike who are amazed by his quick grasp of issues in the public interest. As he always says, “Kogi should come first in our consideration of issues in the state Assembly.”

This man became a podium of political good will and governance in Kogi state since 2015. Imam has been a strong pillar to people who see politics as way of service to God and humanity. He uses his resources, political will in sponsoring visionary leaders in the place of authority in a mission to give quality service to humanity.

Imam in his perception of leadership, he consider it a tasking and much is demanding from those God willed the vitreous in them. Leadership can be very enslaving, the fame and popularity that come along with it may take away your sleep and freedom. Imam see it a privilege to serve humanity under the gift of given up himself and what he has for the people of Lokoja and entire Kogi state.

He availed himself for God to use him to give his talent of leadership to people of all races and places,on receiving the support by the invincible hand of God not to break away from given the right services, haven the full wisdom, Grace and knowledge to conduct himself to meet the expectation of the people, he grow to see people as the best reason for leaders to be leaders. Without people there can never be leaders or anything call democracy or act of leadership style.

He positioned himself in the place of servant not for the purpose of occupying political office or elective position, a stakeholders that sees beyond himself but people around him. He has never burdened himself with leadership quest for the purpose of occupying a position.

From whatever perspective, God or man leadership is synonymous to servitude, it is servitude because a Leader is expected to be under God’s absolute control and the people who gave them the mandate to serve. Hon  Imam is a man that is said of him has much of leadership abilities. According to  Lawal Bako who said that any government that will succeed in Kogi state must involve Rt.Hon Umar Imam, most especially if the person need a blog votes of Lokoja/Koton Karfe federal constituency. All because he has extended political roots of empowering people.

Bako further revealed that former Governor Wada, and the incumbent Bello have adjudged Imam to be a man with high level of integrity, an attitude that nurtured him to political lime light, building his life on trust as a strong political stalwart in the state.

Integrity it is what a political leaders should have, Imam remain high with moral standards. Morality is about being right or doing the right thing. This is no doubt in the attitude of Imam. Always being reasonable and strong believe in justice, equality, egalitarianism, discipline and strong hatred for what is wrong.

No matter what it is or happens, Imam is a legendary leader whose continues to look forward for better days of leadership. Imam view democracy as a political leadership as the head leadership of society.

In the generality of Rt. Hon Imam’s life style is a leadership of leaders. The man Imam is like the head of a human being; if the head fails, the body rots away that’s how many presumed Imam’s kind in kogi state before his resignations as the then speaker.

Like the Young eaglet, which has a steady focus vision to soar high to bigger horizon in order to see clearly the prey she want for food. Imam is a potential first class material in the school of politics. The former Rt Hon speaker was rated as a philanthropist who shares what he have and pay school fees of Students in million of naira to many Kogi indigenes irrespective of where they come from.

When in the 2015 wind of change blew, it came with a radical change of new innovation that PDP ruling party were automatically replaced by All Progressives Congress (APC) from bottom to the top of all tiers and phases of government especially in Northern Nigeria. Imam as a shrewd politician while aspiring  picks the party ticket for the assembly seat, all his thousands followers and worked the Audu/Faleke’s mandate of becoming a Governor inherited by Gov Bello.

Imam is truly a legend leader, in him is the leadership abilities of Love and selfless service to humanity. With his nature and character of helping students, young politicians from all works of life an indication of his undying selfless service to humanity.

Imam is now the main arrow head man who is working hard to bring back president Muhammadu Buhari and Gov Yahaya Bello  for the second term as a president of the country and Governor of the state. Many believe he has no threats of failure in him in whoever he wants to support as a political leader in Lokoja.

He remain a pivot wheel of government and the act of governance in the constituency he is representing with a people’s oriented politics in the inside of him.
