Kogi Gov Lauds PMB’s Achievements in Power Sector


Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has described the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in the power sector as a demonstration of genuine interest in making life better for the Nigerian people.


He stressed that Nigerians could feel the ongoing effort of the federal government in meeting the challenges of development, with particular emphasis on power and other critical infrastructures.

Bello stated this Wednesday, while receiving in his office in Lokoja, the chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Professor James Adache Momoh and members of his management team.

The governor who expressed delight on the giant strides of the Buhari-led government in the last three years, promised his support to the organization to enable it deliver on its mandate. 



While applauding the plan of the organization to set up an operational office in the state, Bello solicited its partnership in his administration’s rural electrification drive. 

He particularly requested special consideration for the Eastern part of the state, noting that several communities in the area and other parts of the state are still wallowing in perpetual blackout.

“The state government is willing to partner NERC in the provision of electricity to our communities. Several communities in the state are yet to be connected to the national grid”, he said. 

He underscored the role of stable power in economic and social development, noting that, “ stable power add values to the economy. It will stimulate economic activities by making people self-reliant”. 



On his part, chairman of the agency, Professor Adache, revealed that the vision of government is to light up all parts of the country, and pointed out that the Buhari administration is poised to ensure there is constant power for all.

 While  commending the governor for his effort at transforming the state, a stride he pointed out is complementary of President Buhari’s vision for the country, Professor Adache, disclosed that the agency is looking into billing situation, especially complaints bothering on over billing. 

He pointed out that in addressing the problem, the agency is intensifying exhorts at ensuring comprehensive metering of all households and power consumers in the country. 

Professor Adache assured that the agency is partnering with Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), for improved power supply in the state, noting that key on the mandate of the agency is ensuring improved services to all electricity consumers in the country.
